Why BOVTS?

A History Of Success

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is one of the most successful and well-respected conservatoire drama schools in the UK.

We attract the very best talent in students and staff, and our courses are recognised nationally and internationally as a benchmark of quality in professional acting, technical, production and management training.

An International Reputation

Bristol’s café and bar scene is bustling and eclectic and its music scene has an established international reputation due to the success of such Bristol musicians as Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky and Andy Shepherd.

One Of the UK's Most Vibrant Cities

Bristol has a thriving arts scene.

It is home to The Bristol Old Vic, the country’s oldest working theatre, the contemporary arts space The Arnolfini; the independent cinema and media centre, Watershed, the innovative theatre space, The Tobacco Factory Theatres and the concert venue, The Bristol Beacon (formerly The Colston Hall).

Cultural Institutions Of Bristol

One of my favourite parts about BOVTS is that it feels ‘homegrown’. From the set to the costume, lighting, acting and sound, every single aspect of a theatre production or film is down to the students. The location of Clifton is so serene and the School being so small everyone knows each other and it feels so personal and special. Violet Morris, BA Professional Acting Student
