"At last the large egg broke, and a young one crept forth crying, ‘Peep, peep'."

Devised by Toby Hulse and the Company, based on the stories by Hans Christian Andersen

Directed by Toby Hulse

Suitable for all ages

Whether reading a book, watching TV, or even sharing a joke with your friends, you just can’t beat a good story. But have you ever stopped to consider what it is that makes a story good, or different?

They all have the same basic ingredients: a beginning, a middle and an end. They all have characters, a plot, and a setting. Yet they are all very different.

The fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen have been enjoyed for over 150 years, passed on from generation to generation, and found on bookshelves across the world. Hans came from an ordinary background – his mum worked in a laundry and his dad was a cobbler, making and repairing shoes, shoes that all had the same basic ingredients, a heel, a sole and a toe. Yet like stories, they are all very different…

This spring, we invite you to join us to discover the classic tales of Hans Christian Andersen, including The Ugly Duckling, The Red Shoes, The Tinderbox and The Little Match Girl. Which will be your favourite story to tell?
