The Acting for Camera – Intermediate course has been designed to support those with some experience of screen acting to hone their skills. Whether you act as a hobby, have taken part in university productions, or are considering full-time conservatoire training, the programme will support you in your development as a performer. The course will give you a practical experience of screen acting using techniques developed by Sanford Meisner and Nikolai Demidov.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School offers a fun and nurturing environment in which to pursue your creative ambitions. The support and feedback available from your tutor will help you develop your natural talents and confidence in acting for camera.

Highlights

• Gain a foundational understanding of acting for camera through step-by-step acting exercises;

• Develop your creative instincts by exploring techniques developed by Meisner and Demidov;

• Conduct text analysis to translate scripts into believable performances;

• Perform scene work on camera and watch digital playback to enhance your learning;

• Obtain direct feedback from the course leader.

This is a full-time, Monday to Saturday course. Sessions run from 09:15 to 17:00. This course is taught in our rehearsal studios at Downside Road.

Course Leader

Jack Price
Jack Price is the former head of screen acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He is a film director and educator.

He provides training to tutors at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and has previously worked with RADA and Italia Conti.

Jack is also an award-winning film director. He has written and directed for the BBC and Channel Four, and has worked extensively with Ridley Scott Associates to direct film.
